Nestled in between two larger, more prosperous buildings, sits a small, two-story building. The building front may seem a bit shabby at first, simply being compared to the others around it. However, it is obvious that the building is well cared for. The windows are cleaned regularly, and the walkway in front is often swept clear. A simple sign above the door reads Sobre Fil. In the windows there are small displays of beautiful fabrics and articles of clothing.
Upon opening the door, the first thing a person is bound to notice is the pleasant atmosphere. The walls are papered in a pleasing dark blue on pale yellow fleur-de-lis pattern. Oil lamps are placed in a pattern around the room and, along with the wall sconces, the room is lit well. The floor is plain wood, well-worn, but it covered here and there with pleasing rugs. The space is quite small, but cozy. A beautiful but old wood desk is placed off to the right side, with one chair behind it and two matching chairs in front of it. Several large cabinets line the left wall. At the back, there is a large screen in one corner, placed so there is plenty of room behind it. Several large full-length mirrors are placed next to it with a sturdy, wide wooden stool in front of them. A large wooden door is in the other back corner. This leads to the back room, which takes up the rest of the main floor.
Customers are not allowed beyond this point. After walking through the door, a wooden staircase to the right leads to the second floor. The rest of the space is cleared, with large cabinets lining the walls. These cabinets are filled with fabrics of every material and color. Several costume forms are gathered in one corner of the room, out of the way. A large, low table takes up most of the middle of the room, though a great deal of empty floor space is left clear. The space is a little cluttered, but kept mostly neat. The only other room on the main floor is a very small room that holds another large desk, a chair, and several cabinets filled with files of paperwork. This small office is kept locked at all times.
Upon entering the shop during open hours, a person would be greeted warmly by the single person who owns and operates the store: Simon Olivier.
Welcome to Sobre Fil. How may I serve you today?
