Name: Simon Theodore (Teddy) Olivier
Gender: Male
Age: 27
Job: Artist/Businessman
Habitat: Simon Olivier's apartment is quite small, but it is quite obvious that a great deal of time, effort, and care has gone into it. It is furnished with worn, but comfortable furniture that was, at one time, completely hideous. However, because of his profession Simon was able to recover a great deal of it in fabrics and finishes of his own choice. The result is a well-coordinated, comfortable abode. Simon's apartment is located directly above his shop, which is also quite small. However, it suits his business quite well and he has no complaints. It was quite difficult to get a building so close to the Moulin Rouge, but he'd had a stroke of luck when the building had been seized by the bank. The building is rather overwhelmed by the two, more wealthy businesses on either side. Over the door is a sign that reads Sobre Fil or 'simple thread'.
Physical Description: Simon is somewhat short, standing at only 5'8". His build is slender, though not dangerously so. He wears his dark brown hair cut short and usually does not take the time or care to style it as others do. He usually sports a trimmed beard and mustache as well, though he will occasionally get it shaved completely before regrowing it. His complexion is fair and his eyes are blue.
As for clothing, he tends to dress simply, favoring simple slacks, shirts, and vests. He does wear suits occasionally, of his own making, but prefers to normally wear things that he can work in easily. He is not one to wear flamboyant clothing, nor does he keep up personally with the latest trends. He reserves those for his customers and for the ladies of the Moulin Rouge.
Personality Description:
Simon is a bit of an eccentric. He has a strong sense of humor and a genial personality. He is quite the optimist and seems to find the best in everyone. However, when it comes to his work Simon is completely serious. When he is working, he hates to be disturbed and has often lost his temper at those who dare to interrupt him. His work requires great concentration, but the results are always worth it. Though he makes clothing for a number of patrons in Paris, most of his customers are the ladies of the Moulin Rouge. He is always willing to alter, fix, or even create a brand new costume for the Diamond Dogs. He was a little shy around them at first, but as he grew to know them better, he treats most of them as if they were his sisters and is not afraid to tease them.
Because of the business he receives from the Moulin Rouge and because of the fondness he has for the ladies, Simon is quite protective of them and has not hesitated in getting in a brawl or two in their honor. Unfortunately, Simon's hands are better for sewing and not for fighting, so he usually gets the worst of the beating. Still, he is very chivalrous, if a bit naive. He earned the nickname Teddy from one of the dancing girls and he fondly allows them to use it.
History:
Simon grew up in a wealthy middle/upper class family in Paris. Simon's father is a self-made business man and a very successful lawyer. His mother is a retired opera singer. She retired only a few years ago and Simon grew up watching her perform. He spent much of his childhood backstage at the opera house being spoiled rotten by the performers. It was there that he first learned how to sew. He was dazzled by the lavish costumes that they wore. When it was discovered that he had a knack with the fabrics, the opera house costumer took him on as an unofficial apprentice.
When he came of age, Simon was sent away to a boarding school where he did well in all of his classes, though he did not excel in any subject besides math. His father was very supportive of his son and when Simon told him he wished to start his own business, his father provided the money to do so. Both parents are supportive of his business, though his father disapproves of his work with the Moulin Rouge. Still, Simon has been successful enough to pay his father back for his investment and maintain his business. He might be somewhat poor, but he is quite happy.
Simon's shop is located just outside the red-light district, in walking distance of the Moulin Rouge. He opened the shop when he was 20 years old. Now, seven years later, the shop is doing rather well, with perhaps a dozen steady middle/high class patrons and even a few more wealthy patrons. Though his shop does not have a great reputation such as the designer stores, his clothing is of the highest quality and he does not care if the wealthier patrons lie about the source of their clothing in public, as long as they are loyal, consistent customers.
